TEAM 3-4 |
Aslıhan Hi! I am Aslıhan… I graduated from English Language Teaching Department at Gazi University. It is my 10th year in teaching English, and I have had the chance of experiencing team- teaching this year for the first time. As the one who believes the power of synergy, I have impressed by that team teaching provides the best way of reflecting collocation. Knowing there is another teacher in the classroom who is ready to help you whenever you need is like rubbing the Aladdin’s lamp to call the Genie. Also, we, the teachers in the classroom are like the dancers on the stage and a dance show should have a good choreography, to be watched. Additionally, audiences would like to see the harmony between dancers. For this reason, planning step has the vital importance in implementation in team teaching. As long as mutual respect and responsibility between teachers are preserved, two heads are better than one. Elif Meltem Hi. I am Elif Meltem… I graduated from the University of Ankara in 2007. I received my Master’s degree in the field of teaching a foreign language from Ankara University. I have been teaching English for almost 10 years now. I have had team-taught for many times and I can easily say that in my opinion, team teaching was an unbelievable experience that made a great contribution to me in terms of my individual development. It is possible to say that I discovered myself again and again during my journey including team teaching. Thanks to my team teaching experience, I had a chance to realize how I conducted my lesson. I think Team-teaching is a creative and enjoyable way to teach something and it can enhance the teaching and learning experiences of students and teachers. I go for TEAM-TEACHING because I believe that it can improve our teaching skills and make us see teaching through the learners’ eyes. I believe that team teaching is a great way to build collegial relationship and make us gain new insights. When students see that their teachers are working together, they understand the power of respect amongst peers. Now, I wonder what I will experience as a facilitator in terms of team-teaching. I certainly believe that it will make a great contribution to me. In addition, it is an inevitable fact that there will be lots of things that I will learn beyond team-teaching. Sabahat Hi! I am Sebahat, I have graduated from English Language Teaching Department at Gazi University and I`m doing my master in the same department now. I`ve been teaching English in UTAA for two years, and I have team-taught for several times. I think that team-teaching is an effective and alternative way to conduct the lesson in a creative and comfortable way. It is very advantageous that there are two authorities in a classroom. It helps the instructors share the burden of teaching. I take place in team teaching as a facilitator for this time. I hope that my experiences will lead and contribute to my team-mates. I believe that we can gain new perspectives by teaching in a different way and by observing each other. |
Begüm Hi I’m Begüm! I graduated from Hacettepe University,Department of English Linguistics in 2010.Currently, I am studying for my Master Thesis on Curriculum and Instruction at Hacettepe University.I have been teaching English to young adults for more than 5 years. I have not experienced team teaching before. It will be the first time for me! Firstly I had no idea about it and I felt a bit nervous, but after meeting with my teammates and recording our first mock team teaching lesson, I hopefully thought that it would be a wonderful experience for me.I can certainly say that team teaching will contribute a lot to my proffessional development . Listening to my experienced teammates, sharing our own teaching experiences and teaching philosophy will help me develop in this field. Thanks to my team teaching experience, I have considered my teaching teacniques and I have realized the power of team spirit in a short time so far.I believe that we will be able to boost the motivation of our students and they will be more attentive, alert and enthusiastic about lessons.Apart from students, I hope that team teaching will also enhance our relationship as team members and we will all benefit from this study because it is a great chance to collaborate on every step of teaching. Now I am very curious about the oncoming studies. I know that I will learn a lot through this journey and my students will take advantage of the team teaching.I grow impatient when I think about the outcome of this experience. As a teacher I am sure I will contribute a lot to myself,my team and my students. Fırat Hi! I am Fırat, and I am a graduate of English Language and Literature Department. Currently, I am studying for my M.A. on Educational Technologies. I have been teaching English for 3 years now, and now I am getting ready to something brand new for me; team teaching. Even though I have had some concerns about it in the beginning, after reading on it and experiencing a mock team teaching, most of my prejudices have gone away, and now I am curious about my future studies on this. I say team teaching because I believe it highlights better parts of us and helps create an active classroom environment, enables easier classroom management and much more. Union is strength; there are two teachers to help out each other whatever the situation is. The collegiality and combined expertise provide an advantage without any doubt as team-teachers share their knowledge and experience, they share their feelings and even their workload; that is to say they stand for each other. I will try to contribute to team teaching with the best of me. As long as changes and differences are involved, there will always be development for us, teachers. |
Betül Hi! I am Betül, I graduated from the department of English Language Teaching at METU in 2015. After my graduation, I started working at UTAA as an English instructor. And I have been teaching English for about 2 years now. I go for team teaching because working with a collegue in the same classroom sounds like a different and an effecttive way of teaching. Having different perspectives in the classroom is good for both students and teachers. With team teaching, we as a team can share our insights and also challenge the traditional assumptions about language teaching and learning. I believe that the presence of another teacher in the class reduces the learning problems. In addition, with different teachers the students can find a chance to connect with different personalities. I hope this new experience will contribute to our teaching and I will also contribute to my team. Kübra Hello!! I am Kübra. I graduated from the department of English Language Teaching at Hacettepe University in 2013.. Now, I am doing my master’s in Computer Education and Instructional Technologies at Hacettepe University. I have been teaching for 2 years and I have never experienced team teaching before. It is a brand new perspective in teaching and I feel excited. I hope it will help me to make a difference in my students’ life and mine, as well. I believe that team teaching experience is a chance to gain new aspects in teaching by exchanging ideas in the whole process. I will do my best to contribute to myself and my lovely team. Sevgi Hi! I am Sevgi. I graduated from METU/ELT department in 2014. I have been teaching English for almost three years now. This would be my first team teaching experience, so I felt a little bit nervous at the beginning. However, after the first mock team teaching experience, I have to admit that it motivated me for teaching once more. I felt very excited and thought; “I will not be alone in the classroom anymore, there will be someone that understands, guides and helps me for everything.” It feels like finding a friend in a crowded group. :) I am sure that it will help us to see our drawbacks and also to get aware of our hidden capabilities as teachers. In this way, we can create more communicative, motivating and active classroom atmosphere for our weary repeat students! Because of these convincing reasons of me, I will try my best to contribute myself, my partner and my students in every aspect while experiencing the teaching as a team. |
