Fırat Hi! I am Fırat, and I am a graduate of English Language and Literature Department. Currently, I am studying for my M.A. on Educational Technologies. I have been teaching English for 3 years now, and now I am getting ready to something brand new for me; team teaching. Even though I have had some concerns about it in the beginning, after reading on it and experiencing a mock team teaching, most of my prejudices have gone away, and now I am curious about my future studies on this. I say team teaching because I believe it highlights better parts of us and helps create an active classroom environment, enables easier classroom management and much more. Union is strength; there are two teachers to help out each other whatever the situation is. The collegiality and combined expertise provide an advantage without any doubt as team-teachers share their knowledge and experience, they share their feelings and even their workload; that is to say they stand for each other. I will try to contribute to team teaching with the best of me. As long as changes and differences are involved, there will always be development for us, teachers. |

Yakup Hi, I’m Yakup. I graduated from METU FLE Department in 2010. I am currently doing my master’s in English Language Teaching at Hacettepe University. I have been teaching English for 7 years now and I started working at UTAA, Department of Foreign Languages in March, 2016. I have participated in many different Professional Development activities but I have never tried team-teaching before, which makes me a little bit excited and nervous at the same time. It seems to be an enjoyable way of teaching where two or more teachers are planning and conducting a lesson cooperatively. I am in favour of team teaching because I believe it will provide an interactive and creative classroom atmosphere where learners will learn English better and have fun at the same time. Planning and teaching a lesson with a partner will also help teachers learn from each other and be aware of different perspectives and practices. At the end of this process, I hope to gain new insights and pick up a few new and practical ideas from my colleagues and improve the quality of teaching and learning in my institution. In addition, I would like to contribute to my team members with my views and experiences and develop together professionally. |
Ayşenur Hi, I am Ayşenur. I graduated from the department of English Language and Literature, Hacettepe University in 2014 and I started my career as an ELT instructor in Yıldırım Beyazıt University. In 2015, I started working in UTAA where I have met Team Teaching first time in my professional career. I haven’t had any experience about it so far. However, I have always been curious and enthusiastic about trying it while my colleagues were conducting it since I believe that collaboration and cooperation between teachers mean a lot in teaching a second language. As I am a team worker, I would like to go for it because I am hoping to gain various perspectives from my team members and improve myself professionally as well as to experience a fun period with my team members and students in this process. In addition, I believe that I can be helpful to create a productive partnership for my colleagues with my generous contributions. |
Sena Hi ! I’m Sena. I received my B.A degree in Foreign Language Education and minor degree in Linguistics, both from Boğaziçi University. Upon the graduation, I started to work at UTAA where I have been working as an instructor of English since 2015 and doing my M.A at Hacettepe University, Linguistics. Language is one of my biggest interests and I have done some work on Reflective Teaching, Lesson Observation, Lesson Study in the scope of CPD at UTAA and now I am getting my hands dirty with Team-Teaching, as well. It is the first time I have been included in Team-Teaching and it is an intellectually interesting and fertile practice that enables teachers not to feel stuck in the rabbit hole, but to liberate in the Wonderland thanks to Team-Teaching. I am hoping to gain new insights and build collegial relationship in this practice. |
